DATA specializes in creating innovative technologies and instruments for measuring and processing small objects. The original motivation for the development of these systems came from a study of the demands of the diamond industry.

DATA's present technologies have been used to develop two platforms which provide the ability to:

• Count, measure and sort items in free motion. Items falling through a chute are illuminated by a photo-electric detector and processed digitally in order to count their number, measuring their individual dimensions, and sorting them into receptacles. Applications extend to the counting and sorting of gemstones, agricultural seeds, and other items. Instruments, based on this technology are capable of counting a "cascade" of up to 8,000 items per minute with better than 99.9% accuracy. DATA has applied for patents internationally.
  
  
• Weigh and measure small items. A small item is grasped by mechanical tweezers that are activated electro-mechanically to vibrate. Just as
  the frequency of a tuning fork is dependent on its mass, the frequency of the tweezers depends on the mass of the item it grasps. The weighing accuracy of the tweezers is comparable to that of quality scales (0.2 mg.). The tweezers also measure the diameter of the small item. The accuracy of this measurement is comparable to that of calipers used in the diamond industry (0.05 millimeter). The tweezers can be adapted for measuring the weights and sizes of pharmaceutical tablets during manufacture. International patents for the electronic tweezers have been granted.

DATA’s product lines, based on its proprietary and patented technologies, are built to deliver accuracy and speed, minimize errors or mistakes and provide cost-effective manufacturing solutions. While many comparable products may deliver speed of processing or precision, DATA Technologies products deliver both without compromising either.
